Absolutely beautiful small friendly family apartments in a very unspoilt location near to the beach. We have had the most amazing holiday and this accommodation comes highly recommended the rooms... read more are cleaned everyday and fresh towels. The family cannot be more welcoming and hospitable. If you need transport they will run you into Kamari collect you from the airport and organise transport to local restaurants. We will definitely be coming back❤️☀️✈️
You definitely get what you pay for, the accommodation may be that little bit cheaper, but the overall cost ends up doubling due to location and eating. The rooms are... read more extremely basic & outdated and not what they look like on the pictures, it’s fine for a base for your stay.
PLUS SIDES - The owners are sweet and the free airport transfers are great, but their English is limited and it’s difficult to make conversation. The office is very small and not often occupied, despite saying their opening hours are long, which makes trying to get around and asking questions very difficult. Upon arrival, they give you bottles of water which is a lovely gesture seeing as you aren’t able to drink from the taps. The pool area is beautiful and there is a good amount of sun loungers, the only fault is that the hot tub is actually part of the pool (so is cold) and the button doesn’t work to turn it into a jacuzzi! The rooms are very clean and well stocked daily with toilet paper & clean towels and bedding.
TRANSPORT - you definitely need to hire a car unless you’re prepared to take 45 minutes minimum to walk to Kamari beach in the heat, or pay €10 each way for a cab. There’s only 40 taxis on the whole island, so actually managing to get a taxi is a mission in itself, on the off chance they actually answer the phone, when they hear you are not Greek, they hang up or tell you to call back in 5 minutes. You can get a bus from the main road, but that’s if it turns up at all - you will ask to go into Kamari, they say yes yes and shove you on, but you have to go to Thira (on the opposite side of the island) to get another bus back to Kamari.
EATING - Breakfast is not included, but you are able to pay €11 per head per day to get a basic continental, or you can eat a buffet breakfast at the resort down the road for €15 per head. There is no restaurant, only a mini mart up the road which the hotel owns, but with only a kettle in the room there is not really much option to cook for yourself.
NOISE - Being so close to the airport, you literally hear everything. There wasn’t a night that I managed to sleep before 2am due to planes at all hours of the night. You’re lucky if you’re a heavy sleeper. The resort is run by a big family and one of the nights, the small children belonging to the owner’s son were running around screaming until atleast 01:30, obviously this isn’t ideal or fair on guests. Word of advice, don’t be too friendly to the cats or dogs - even looking at them intises them into your room or gives them the impression they can sit outside scratching the window and squarking all night long.
On the day I checked out, I stayed around the pool area as I had a late night flight, and I spoke to 3 couples who had been made to wait as their rooms weren’t ready on time, 1 that booked a double room and had been put in a twin. Not a great impression to myself or newcomers.
Overall I had a fantastic time on the island and there’s plenty to do. Having come to Santorini for a wedding with a huge group of people, I saw lots of different accommodation, I definitely feel I had the worst deal, price and location wise, there’s lots more out there that turns out cheaper in the long run. Luckily, I spent most of our time at our friends accommodation - Casa Vitae Suites where I would definitely be staying if I ever returned to santorini!
First impressions of Louis Studios was positive. We were picked up from the airport, as agreed, which was very helpful. We were a party of 10, requiring four... read more rooms; two family rooms and two studios and were in Santorini for one of my daughter's wedding. The rooms were basic but adequate and the pool was of a good size and clean.
We had three children with us aged one, two and five. The studios are advertised as being family friendly. On the second day my youngest grandchild was sick on the sheets. My husband took the sheets off the bed, washed them and hung them on the washing line. The owner's mother, Anna, intervened and my husband was subjected to a barrage of verbal abuse. I could hear her shouting at my husband from my room! She accused the children of being dirty and soiling the sheets with chocolate biscuit and sun tan lotion. Children are children and they do touch things when they have eaten and therefore to describe themselves as family friendly is inaccurate. I inspected the sheets and there was minimal soiling which should be solved by a normal wash. Two of our t-shirts and two hats were ruined by being stained yellow from the chlorine in the pool so I suspect this could have something to do with the stains on the bed. My husband offered to pay for the sheets but again he was subjected to shouting abuse - honestly you couldn't make it up. This made for a very uncomfortable stay in the studios. After this Anna delivered some pool towels to my daughter's room and we were by the pool watching. She couldn't gain access so slammed the towels down on a chair with such anger it was laughable. Anna then ignored us for the remainder of the time which suited us.
To minimise any soiling of the room in any way we tried to eat outside on the patio but we were inundated with flies. They really do have a problem with flies.
If you are thinking of going here with children please bear in mind there is absolutely nothing here for them except for the pool.
There is nothing around the near vicinity of the studios except a small mini market which is owned by the owners of Louis Studios. There is a beach a five minute walk away but it's not a nice beach so we didn't stay there. There is nowhere to have breakfast etc except a hotel on the beach where you can get lunch or dinner albeit a bit pricey. There is a bus service but I heard this was not very reliable. The price of taxis is exorbitant I.e. a 7 minute ride into Kamari was 10 euros each way. The cost to go into Thira was about 25 euros.
On the penultimate day of our holiday the owner said that he had overbooked our room and asked that we move in with our daughter and her two children for our last night. We agreed as he offered us the room on our last day until we left for the airport. This, of course, was not ideal. I would have preferred to pay for an extension of the room. I have no idea what he would have done if we had refused. However, we are reasonable people and thought this would be the fairest solution for everyone.
My husband had to collect a wheelchair for my father and Anna's husband (I think) was kind enough to take him at a cost of 15 euros but he didn't charge him to take it back which was kind of him.
So, to summarise:
1. This is a good base for adults but you will need a car.
2. There is nothing for children and woe betide you if you spill something on the sheets.
3. Taxis are expensive.
4. Very little around the hotel.
5. Be prepared the rooms may be overbooked.
This probably sounds like a harsh review but it is honest. Please judge by my previous reviews of other hotels and you will see that I have always been fair and honest.
If I ever go back to Santorini I will avoid Louis Studios and book elsewhere.
